GEHWOL med Sensitive

GEHWOL med Sensitive is special care which was developed specifically for dry and sensitive skin. It regenerates the natural microflora of the skin, relieves itching and burning skin which are typical symptoms of inflammation, reduces redness and protects against infections. The new cream is based on a sensitive active substance complex which contains MicroSilver BG^TM. Ceramides support the skin's barrier protection against bacteria, fungi and allergens. Mild almond oil soothes, provides moisture and keeps the skin supple. GEHWOL med Sensitive is also suitable for therapy supporting care in diabetes, neurodermatitis, foot and nail fungus. The recipe is nano-free and contains no scents, parabens, PEG emulsifiers and silicone oils.

The Sensitive formula: Protection against symptoms and infection

The sensitive protection promise of GEHWOL med Sensitive is based on a novel, clinically tested active substance formula of three patented substances: SymSitive^®* and SymRelief^®* in combination with highly purified MicroSilver BG^TM.

The acting mechanism of the multiple award winning** SymSitive^®* is oriented to the skin-soothing natural components of wild pistachio (Pistacia lentiscus or mastic shrub). SymRelief^®* combines organically cultivated ginger extract with bisabolol from chamomile. Together, the SYM complex plays a decisive role in the immune response of the skin. It blocks the skin receptors which are sensitised by external stimuli and prevents them from sending out reactive messenger substances. These substances produce itching and/or burning irritation signals, or cause reddened skin as inflammation mediators. Due to the variation in the immune response, the symptoms are noticeably and clearly reduced; itching and burning are reduced immediately.

MicroSilver BG^™ normalises the biological microflora of the skin by intervening into the cell metabolism of bacteria and fungi and preventing them from spreading into deeper skin layers. The silver ions which are released from silver damage specific transport proteins of the cell membrane. Without these proteins, the respiratory chain, energy collection and substance transport of the pathogens no longer function. Inside, the silver ions inactivate enzymes and nucleic acids of the pathogen DNA, so that bacteria and fungi are no longer able to reproduce.

Silver deposit with long term effects

Silver was already used for its antimicrobial properties in pre-Christian times. For instance, it is told of the Persian king Cyrus (610 to 585 before Christ) that he had water from the river Choapses brought along in silver pitchers during his war campaigns. This was to protect the valuable drinking water against spoilage. Today, cosmetic products use this antimicrobial effect to regenerate the skin flora. However, not all silver is the same. The new GEHWOL med Sensitive utilises highly purified MicroSilver BG^TM. Unlike nanosilver, it does not penetrate the skin, but forms a kind of protective deposit in the superficial skin folds. The silver ions are released with a dosed effect from there. This "extended release effect" results from the relatively large, spongy surface of the silver particles. Since silver ions are only formed on the surface of the particles, MicroSilver BG^TM is able to infiltrate bacteria and fungi with silver ions in the long term better than e.g. customary silver powder with a lesser surface area. This happens in a kind of flowing balance between saturation and consumption of silver ions in and between the cells of e.g. bacteria and fungi.

The care formula: Barrier protection

The skin barrier is a compact compound of callus cells, fats (lipids) and moisture which protects the skin against irritants such as bacteria, fungi or allergens. If the skin lacks lipids, it dries out and becomes cracked. Lipid deficiency is typical of mature skin, but also occurs in diabetes and neurodermatitis. Ceramides account for the main share in the skin's fat content, with 40 percent. They are therefore an important component in the care formula of GEHWOL med Sensitive. With the ceramides in its recipe, the cream regenerates the natural barrier function of the skin, protects it against dehydration, and improves its resistance to external influences. Mild almond oil supports this effect. It contains a high share of unsaturated fatty acids which are also an important skin fat component. Almond oil soothes the skin, renders it pleasantly soft, and provides moisture.
